EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern University head baseball coach Spencer Allen has announced the addition of outfielder Kyle Burnett, Jr. to the incoming class of 2016. Burnett, Jr. joins nine other newcomers that will be on campus in the fall.
Allen's first recruiting class is now comprised of four pitchers, two infielders, two utility players and a pair of outfielders.
Burnett, Jr., a Dallas, Texas, native, hit a team-best .463 during his senior season at Highland Park High School with seven home runs, 10 doubles and four triples. He also led the Scots with 35 RBIs, 14 stolen bases and a .874 slugging percentage last spring.
Following his senior campaign, Burnett, Jr. was named the unanimous District 10-6A Offensive Most Valuable Player, in addition to being a SportsDay First Team All-Area and All-State All-Star selection.
Burnett, Jr. was also a quarterback and running back on Highland Park's football team.
