EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern women's basketball welcomes a new Wildcat to the 2016-17 roster with the addition of Oceana Hamilton. Per NCAA transfer rules, Hamilton will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2016-17 season after sitting out last year.
A native of Mississauga, Ontario, the 6-foot-4 center comes to Evanston from Alabama where she appeared in 46 games in her first two seasons in Tuscaloosa. During her freshman campaign, Hamilton saw action in all but two of the Tide's games, recording 44 points, 19 blocks and 48 boards on the year.
As a sophomore in 2014-15, Hamilton played in 18 games as a key reserve, posting 50 points, 19 blocks and 45 rebounds, and shot 49 percent from the field. She was also named to the Southeastern Conference Academic honor roll and earned Black Scholars Award recognition at Alabama's Crimson Choice Awards in her final year.
