TEMPE, Ariz. – Freshman Stephanie Lau birdied five of her first seven holes in Saturday's Round 2 of the PING/ASU Invitational on her way to a 6-under 66 to surge into the Top-5 heading into Sunday's final 18 holes.

Lau's 66 is the best round of her young college career. She opened Saturday's round on the back nine and birdied Nos. 10, 11, 12, 14 and 16 to start, and added two more on the front at Nos. 2 and 9. The Fullerton, California, native was Saturday's biggest mover on the leaderboard, rocketing up 28 spots to fifth-place, just two shots back of third.
Sophomore Sarah Cho fired a 1-under 71 to rise 11 spots into a tie for 12th, one she shares with freshman Janet Mao who backed up an opening round 71 with a second round 73 to sit at even-par for the tournament.
Sophomore Hannah Kim at one point birdied five consecutive holes, Nos. 16, 17, 18, 1 and 2, on her way to a 2-under 70 that sends her into Sunday's final round just two shots out of seventh.
As a team, Northwestern was also the biggest mover in the field. The Wildcats 282 on Saturday was the best round of the day, allowing the No. 4 squad in the nation to jump five spots into sixth place.
Sunday's final round will tee off at 10 a.m. CT. Northwestern's golfers will be paired in foursomes with competitors from Arizona, Texas and Washington.

The leaderboard will include four more ranked in the Top-20 in No. 10 Arizona, No. 11 Arizona State, No. 13 Washington and No 17 UNLV.
The competition is hosted at ASU Karsten Golf Course, a Pete Dye design (Par-72, 6,337 yards) that has been the home of the Sun Devils since opening in 1989.
