Northwestern Concludes Homestand Tuesday Versus UIC

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern will conclude its five-game homestand at the new Rocky and Berenice Miller Park on Tuesday afternoon when it hosts cross-town foe UIC at 3 p.m. CT.

Northwestern (7-21, 1-5 B1G) fell to UIC (10-16, 3-2 Horizon League) earlier this season, 11-2, when the two teams met at UIC's Les Miller Field on March 8.

Jake Stolley (1-1, 4.95 ERA) will start on the bump versus the Flames on Tuesday. Stolley has made 10 appearances this season, including his first-career start last Wednesday vs. Chicago State. The left-hander has struck out 15 in 20.0 innings of work and is holding opposing batters to a .243 average.

UIC will start RHP Connor Ryan (1-0, 1.80 ERA).

After begging the homestand with an 11-5 win over Chicago State on March 30, the Wildcats dropped three games to Michigan over the weekend.

Junior Matt Hopfner continues to lead the Wildcats at the dish with a .375 batting average and 39 hits. Hopfner's hit total places him sixth in the Big Ten Conference.

As a team, Northwestern is hitting .272 on the campaign and boasts a trio of players who have already eclipsed the 30-hit mark, including Hopfner, Zach Jones (36) and Jack Dunn (34).

Freshman Willie Bourbon has knocked in a team-best 18 runs in 28 games. In the current homestand, Bourbon is batting .462 (6-for-11) with a .923 slugging percentage.

Following the mid-week showdown with the Flames, Northwestern will jump back into Big Ten play with a three-game series at Nebraska.
