WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Olivia Rosendahl and Eryn Scannell will have a chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships this weekend at the Purdue Boilermaker Aquatics Center. The NCAA Zone Diving Championships take place from March 10-12.
Rosendahl has reached NCAA Zone Diving standards in all three events and Scannell has reached the mark from the 1-meter springboard. The freshmen will be participating in all three events.
Competition begins on Thursday with the 1-meter preliminaries at 12 p.m. CT, followed by the finals. The same schedule will be followed on Friday, as the women will be competing in the 3-meter dive. On Saturday, the women's platform dive will begin at 11 a.m. CT.
Rosendahl earned a silver medal in the platform dive competition at the Big Ten Championships and finished in the finals sessions in all three events. She was named to the All-Big Ten second team following the championships after a campaign in which she was named Freshman of the Week four times and Diver of the Week once. During her freshman campaign, she broke a 15-year Norris Aquatics Center record from the 1-meter springboard. Scannell, a native of Grand Blanc, Michigan, was the second-highest Wildcat scorer in each event over the course of the season.
Each event has a certain number of automatic qualifiers: 1-meter (12), 3-meter (7) and platform (10). After placing well enough to be an automatic qualifier, the diver must finish in the top 12 in any other event to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
The top 18 from the preliminiaries will continue on to the finals session and scores carry over.
Live scoring will be available here.
