EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern senior Jameson Oster received an at-large bid Tuesday to the NCAA Championships, becoming the third Wildcat to lock up a spot in New York City next week.
Jason Tsirtsis (149) and Dominick Malone (133) were granted automatic bids based on their respective finish at the Big Ten Championships last weekend.
Oster did not place at Big Tens, but the overall strength of his regular season earned him a trip to Madison Square Garden. The Northwestern 141-pounder went 12-6 with four wins over NCAA championships participants and was ranked for the entire last month of the season.
The 2016 NCAA Championships get underway at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, March 17 at 11 a.m. CT. The six-session event wraps up with the finals at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 19.
Seeding and official brackets will be released closer to the start of the championships.
