ITA Rankings
EVANSTON, Ill. – The Northwestern men's tennis team is ranked in the nation's top-10, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll released Tuesday afternoon.
The poll has the Wildcats at No. 9, a six-spot climb from last week's position.
Northwestern is in the midst of a nine-match win streak, and at 12-1, has climbed all the way from No. 26 at the beginning of the season to their current spot among the best in college tennis.
Ten of the Wildcats 12 wins have come against ranked opponents. Chicago's Big Ten Team has outscored the opposition in those matches, 50-11.
No individual rankings were released this week, but Northwestern retains three singles players in the polls from last week. Konrad Zieba is No. 8, Sam Shropshire comes in at No. 73 and Strong Kirchheimer rounds out the rankings at No. 107.
Northwestern's first test as a top-10 team will come against in-state rival and No. 11-ranked Illinois at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 12 at the Combe Tennis Center.
