WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Northwestern's swimming and diving team set plenty of top times and program marks on day three of the 2016 Big Ten Men's Swimming & Diving Championships. The Wildcats are in eighth place with 337 points heading into the final day of competition.
Friday's events began with the 200-yard freestyle relay. Northwestern was represented by Almog Olshtein, Andy Jovanovic, Greg Kohner and Will Hofstadter in the relay and the group posted an eighth-place finish with a time of 1:19.15 to earn 44 points.
Tyler Lis came in second in the C Final of the 400 IM and became the fourth-fastest 400 IM swimmer in program history with a time of 3:50.71, jumping Jordan Wilimovsky's 2015 time of 3:50.75.
In the 100 fly, Nick Petersen swam a season-best time for Northwestern when he touched the wall in 47.37 seconds. The time was one one-hundredth shy of his personal-best and it earned him a third-place finish (11th overall) in the B Final. Jovanovic was the top finisher in the C Final of the event with a time of 47.62.
Anthony Marcantonio got the Wildcats seven more points in the 200 free when finished second in the C Final with a time of 1:36.88. The time was nearly three seconds faster than his previous top time (1:39.62), which he set on Jan. 29 vs. Minnesota and Purdue.
Hofstadter also participated in the 100 breaststroke and claimed the best finish (54.42) in the C Final.
After swimming in the 200-free relay and the 100 fly, Jovanovic became the second faster swimmer in program history for the 100-yard backstroke. He finished 10th overall (second in the B Final) with a time of 47.29, just one-tenth of a second faster than Petersen's 2015 record.
Andrew Cramer picked up 17 points for the Wildcats in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 368.98.

Divers that finish 17th through 24th place in the preliminary rounds will also account for team points. Only A & B finals (championship & consolation) will be contested in the diving events.
