WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Northwestern men's swimming & diving team is in eighth place with 194 points after the second day of the 2016 Big Ten Men's Swimming & Diving Championships.
Junior Jonathan Lieberman got the evening started in the 500 free B Final by swimming a season-best time of 4:28.07, which was nearly 12 seconds faster than his previous mark that he set on Oct. 15. Lieberman placed 16th overall in the event.
Freshman Carter Page, who competed in the C Final of the 500 free, also posted a top time in the event when he touched the wall at 4:26.37.
Anthony Marcantonio was the lone Northwestern swimmer to compete in the 200 IM finals. He placed 11th overall in the event, and finished third in the B Final, with a time of 1:45.65 -- nearly four seconds faster than his previous top time this season.
After swimming a season-best mark (19.76) in the preliminary rounds of the 50 free to qualify for the B Final, Almog Olshtein earned 14 points for Northwestern when he swam the finals round in 19.96 to place fifth in the B Finals grouping.
On the boards, Andrew Cramer finished 14th in the 1 meter diving event.
The Wildcats 400-yard medley relay team of Nick Petersen, Will Hofstadter, Andy Jovanovic and Olshtein turned in an eighth-place finish with a finals time of 3:12.25.

Divers that finish 17th through 24th place in the preliminary rounds will also account for team points. Only A & B finals (championship & consolation) will be contested in the diving events.
