EVANSTON, Ill. — When Clayton Thorson completes a pass in the endzone or Justin Jackson dashes for six points, area teachers reap the benefits through Touchdowns for Teachers. For every touchdown Northwestern scores this season, Office Max donates $100 gift cards to Evanston/Skokie School District 65 teachers to use for school and classroom supplies.

"Office Max is proud to support the good works of Evanston teachers," said Jack Krippinger, strategic global account manager of Office Max.

This season, the 'Cats scored 28 touchdowns. District 65 teachers receieved $2,800 to improve the classroom experience of their students for the upcoming year. In the past four years, over $10,000 has been donated to District 65 teachers through Touchdowns for Teachers.

This year, men's basketball will also join the effort to help support District 65 with Assists for Teachers. For every assist that Northwestern records, Office Max will donate $10 to the school district.

Office Max has been the sponsor of Touchdowns for Teachers for the last three seasons, helping Northwestern Athletics continue to make an impact in our community. Recent Wildcat efforts in the community include November's canned food drive benefitting Family Focus of Evanston, visits to the Lurie Childrens' Hospital by football players, and members of the baseball team helping with the opening of Chicago's Freedom Field through the Cal Ripkin Sr. Foundation.

Northwestern Athletics is also the host of Evanston's 'Kits, 'Cats and Kids Block Party, which draws children and families from across Evanston — including students of Evanston/Skokie District 65 — into downtown Evanston to participate in games and activities and listen to live music.

'Cats Give Back, the community relations program for Northwestern Athletics, exists to enhance the overall education experience of Northwestern student-athletes while connecting with and contibuting to the Evanston and Chicagoland communities through service-oriented and philanthropic activities.
