Northwestern Hosts Wildcat Fall Duals

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's women's tennis team continues its fall season with a home event this weekend at Combe Tennis Center as it host the Wildcat Fall Duals. In addition to the Wildcats, the field also consists of DePaul, Oklahoma and Yale.

There is no admission charge for the entire weekend.

Action gets underway at 11 a.m. Friday with Northwestern's contingent slated to start competing at approximately 3:30 p.m. Things continue on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. with the Wildcats in action. Competition concludes on Sunday at 9 a.m. with Northwestern's players set to take the court at approximately 1 p.m.

The field features four individuals in singles play who are in the ITA preseason singles rankings: Oklahoma's Yuriko Miyazaki (No. 108), DePaul's Yuliya Shupenia (No. 119) and Northwestern's Maddie Lipp (No. 110) and Erin Larner (No. 122). NU's Alicia Barnett is ranked No. 124, but is not slated to participate this weekend.

The event is the final one of the fall for the majority of the Wildcats prior to the start of dual match play in January. Next weekend, Lipp and Alex Chatt will be representing NU in the doubles draw at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships in Flushing, New York.

This weekend is slated to mark the return to action of Manon Peri who has been sidelined due to injury since February.
