Northwestern Drops Match at No. 7 Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Symone Abbott reached double figures in kills and Taylor Tashima recorded over 30 assists for the ninth consecutive match, but Northwestern fell at No. 7 Penn State, 3-0, on Wednesday night.
 
The Wildcats were led by Abbott's match high 13 kills and the high percentage attacks of Gabrielle Hazen, Maddie Slater and Sofia Lavin, all of whom hit over .350 on the night.
 
Northwestern played its best in the third set after dropping the first two to the Nittany Lions. Chicago's Big Ten Team hit .279 in the game and held Penn State to its lowest total, but the 'Cats could not come away with crucial points at the end and lost 26-24.
 
The Wildcats return home on Saturday to face Maryland on Senior Day. The match begins at 2 p.m. inside Welsh-Ryan Arena.
 
Northwestern seniors Caroline Niedospial and Abbie Kraus will be recognized for their time with the Wildcat program before they play their final collegiate match.
