EVANSTON, Ill. - Junior Ashley Deary has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Deary shot 73 percent (16-22) from the field and 72 percent (5-7) from three-point range , while averaging 21 points and 9.5 assist to lead NU to a 2-0 week against Idaho State and Western Michigan.
The junior notched a career-high 25 points and dished a career-best 12 assists against Western Michigan for her third double-double since arriving in Evanston. Deary surpassed her previous season-high 17 points in just the first 18 minutes of action. Against Idaho State, Deary recorded seven steals and just as many assists in addition to 17 points and five rebounds.
The honor marks the second-career Player of the Week Award for Deary.
Deary and the Wildcats head to Cedar Park, Texas, this week for the Lone Star Showcase with matchups against Eastern Washington, Creighton and East Carolina.
