EVANSTON, ILL. – Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Clem has been named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
Clem led the Wildcats to a 1-0 record last week against Illinois with a career performance between the pipes. The sophomore tied a season-best seven saves en route to her second career Defensive Player of the Week award. Clem anchored a defensive unit that claimed its 11th clean sheet of the year and the most shutouts in a single season in program history.
The shutout was the 22nd of Clem's career - just two shy of Northwestern's all-time record.
Clem and the Wildcats are back in action in their regular-season finale at Wisconsin on Wednesday, Oct. 28. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.
