Consolation Doubles Draw (PDF)
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. -- Northwestern redshirt sophomore Maddie Lipp and sophomore Alex Chatt capped off an outstanding tournament at the Riviera Women's All-American Tennis Championships on Sunday by claiming the championship of the consolation draw.
Lipp and Chatt, who had earned a spot in the main draw thanks to winning the doubles crown at the ITA Summer Nationals in August, bounced back from dropping their opening match to win four in a row, including a convincing 6-1, 6-2 victory on Sunday over Nevada's team of Blaga Delic and Sheila Morales Hidalgo in the consolation title match.
With the victory, Lipp and Chatt have earned a spot in the doubles draw for the USTA/ITA Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in New York in November.
Northwestern's team returns to action Oct. 22-27 when it participates in the ITA Midwest Regional in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
