PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. -- Redshirt sophomore Maddie Lipp and sophomore Alex Chatt won a pair of matches Saturday to advance to the doubles main draw consolation final at the Riviera Women's All-American Tennis Championships at Riviera Tennis Club.
The Northwestern duo will take on the Nevada team of Blaga Delic and Sheila Morales Hidalgo at 9 a.m. Pacific time Sunday for the consolation title.
Chatt and Lipp started their Saturday by posting a convincing 8-3 victory over Oklahoma State's Viktoriya Lushkova and Carla Tur Mari in the quarterfinal round. The Wildcats' team was then pushed to the limit in their semifinal match before they took down the nation's sixth-ranked team of Desirae Krawczyk and Stephanie Vlad of Arizona State, getting a 6-3, 6-7 (2), 10-6 victory to reach Sunday's final.
