EVANSTON, Ill. – The Northwestern men's tennis team kicks off the 2015-16 season with a trip to the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. The event runs from Oct. 3-12 and is a single-elimination tournament.
The All-American Championships mark the first of four tournaments for the Wildcats during the 2015 fall season.
Sam Shropshire opens his junior year campaign ranked No. 34 in the nation in the ITA preseason singles poll. He earned a spot in the main singles draw. Strong Kirchheimer, ranked No. 120, will begin play in the qualifying draw, while Alp Horoz, Fedor Baev, Mihir Kumar and Konrad Zieba will all start in the prequalifying rounds.
All six Wildcats will pair up to compete in the qualifying draw of doubles play as well. No. 56 Baev and Kirchheimer make up a team, as do Zieba and Kumar. The nation's 43rd-ranked tandem of Shropshire and Horoz round out doubles play for Northwestern.
