Northwestern Announces 2015-16 Schedule

2015-16 Fencing Schedule
 
­EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern will look to build on 16 consecutive top-10 national finishes while facing a challenging slate during the 2015-16 season.
 
Midwest Fencing Conference Coach of the Year Laurie Schiller announced today a schedule that features three home events and several duals and opens on the road that will test the Wildcats all year long.
 
The season begins at home with the USA Fencing Burton Open at the Henry Crown Sports Pavilion on Oct. 4 and concludes in March with the NCAA Championships in Waltham, Mass. at Brandeis University.
 
Along with the Burton Open, Northwestern will also host the USA Fencing Remenyik Open from Oct. 24-25 and the NU Duals Nov. 1 at the Henry Crown Sports Pavilion.
 
The Wildcats will compete at three North American Cup events, beginning with one in Richmond, Va. Oct. 9-12. The second takes place from Nov. 13-16 in Kansas City, Mo. and the final North American Cup event is Jan. 8-11 in St. Louis, Mo.
 
Several competitive duals are on tap throughout the season, including the Columbia Duals Nov. 6, the Vassar Duals Nov. 15 and the Penn Duals Jan. 23. Northwestern is also at the Elite Cup Duals in Philadelphia, Pa. Nov. 21 and the Western Invitational in San Diego, Calif. Jan. 16. The final dual meet of the season, scheduled to take place Jan. 30-31, is still TBD on location.
 
The USA Junior Olympic Championships will be in Cleveland, Ohio and run from Feb. 12-15. That event will be followed by the Midwest Conference Championships in Columbus, Ohio Feb. 27-28 and the lead-up to the NCAA Championships concludes with the NCAA Midwest Regional, also in Columbus, on March 12.
 
The Wildcats return 27 fencers from last year's squad, including three All-Americans in Juliana Barrett, Alisha Gomez-Shah and Cindy Oh.
