EVANSTON, Ill. -- After a 2-0 start Northwestern earned spots in both national college football polls heading into Week 3. The Wildcats made their 2015 debut in the Associate Press Poll at No. 23, and checked in at No 24 in the USA Today/Amway Coaches Poll.

Head coach Pat Fitzgerald's team defeated then-No. 21 Stanford 16-6 in the 2015 season opener and dispatched Eastern Illinois 41-0 on Saturday at Ryan Field. The Wildcats defense has yet to allow a touchdown through eight quarters of play, and has limited opponents to 3-for-26 (11.5%) on third-down.
Northwestern's last appearance in both polls was Oct. 6, 2013 following the primetime matchup at Ryan Field with the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Wildcats were ranked No. 18 in the Coaches Poll and No. 19 in the AP Top-25 that week.
