Ninth-Ranked Northwestern Blanks Central Michigan, 7-0

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Isabel Flens, Dominique Masters and Caroline Troncelliti each scored two goals and Lindsay von der Luft recorded her first career shutout in goal as No. 9 Northwestern rolled to a 7-0 victory over Central Michigan Saturday afternoon at Lakeside Field.

The Wildcats (5-2) didn't allow a single shot the entire game, finishing the contest with a commanding 25-0 edge.

The 'Cats jumped on the Chippewas right out of the gates as Troncelliti scored unassisted just 38 seconds into the match to give the hosts the lead. NU added on to its advantage at the 4:58 mark when Masters finished a great feed from Sophia Miller for her fifth goal of the year to push the lead to 2-0.

Northwestern would get one more first-half goal at 15:31 when Lisa McCarthy scored off a rebound following the initial shot.

The 'Cats thoroughly dominated the opening 35 minutes of play as they recorded nine shots while holding Central Michigan without a shot attempt.

Flens notched her first goal of the day a little under two minutes into the second half, scoring off a beautiful reverse chip shot into the top of the cage off an assist from Puck Pentenga to make it 4-0. The junior recorded her second tally of the day three minutes later off Charlotte Martin's assist for her team-leading seventh goal of the season.

Masters got back to within one goal of Flens for the team scoring lead with her second of the match off a penalty corner at 47:41. Troncelliti capped the scoring by posting her fourth goal in two days at the 54:32 mark.

In goal, von der Luft benefited from the dominant effort in front of her in earning the first shutout of her collegiate career as she didn't face a single shot.

Northwestern wraps up its stretch of three home games in five days on Tuesday when it hosts UC Davis at 2 p.m. at Lakeside Field.
