EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern Combe Family Head Lacrosse Coach Kelly Amonte Hiller has announced the addition of Taylor Harris as Program Coordinator.
"We are excited and very fortunate to announce Taylor as the first ever Lacrosse Program Coordinator," Amonte Hiller said. "This hiring further solidifies Northwestern's commitment to providing our student athletes a world-class experience. Taylor's leadership ability and knowledge will be a huge asset to our staff and student athletes."
Harris spent the previous three seasons as an offensive assistant and recruiting coordinator for the men's lacrosse program at Tufts University, helping the Jumbos claim back-to-back Division III national championships.
In addition to his recruiting duties, Harris served as an offensive assistant for the Jumbos' record-breaking offense that scored 423 goals in 23 games. He oversaw game day substitutions, provided fundamental instruction in practice, created playbook submissions and coached the offensive scout team.
Harris also personally mentored and developed two-time USILA All America faceoff specialist Conor Helfrich, who was named the 2015 NCAA Division III National Championship MOP.
During his collegiate career at the Naval Academy, Harris earned four letters and helped lead Navy to a NCAA Championship game appearance in 2004.
Following his playing career, Harris was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California as a Scout Sniper Platoon Commander, recruiting and training 27 Marines in all facets of reconnaissance and sniping operations across a span of twelve months. While overseas for 12 months, Harris conducted numerous training events with commando units from South Korea, the Philippines, and Jordan.
Harris spent six years as a United States Marine Corps Ground Intelligence Officer. He was selected as the Supervisor of the United States Marine Corps Ground Intelligence Officer course in which he was responsible for the annual instruction of 70 2nd Lieutenants across a 17-week program. Harris' leadership helped lead to a 100% graduation rate of students for service in the active duty.
Harris spent a tour in Afghanistan as an Intelligence Officer where he supported ongoing tactical missions with real-time intelligence fusion from the Joint Operations Center, working with personnel from the FBI, CIA, and Joint Special Operations community. Ultimately, Harris was promoted to Interim Intelligence Directorate Head during his supervisor's absence.
