Tangkamolprasert Honored As WGCA All-American Scholar

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern junior golfer Suchaya Tangkamolprasert has been recognized as a Women's College Golf Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar for the second consecutive season, the organization announced this week. The Bangkok native is the first Wildcats golfer to ever be honored as both a WGCA All-American and an All-American Scholar.

"This is a tremendous honor for Suchaya, and a deserved recognition of her relentless dedication in the classroom," said head coach Emily Fletcher. " Student-athletes come to Northwestern to compete at the highest level athletically and academically and even among the elite students at this university, Suchaya holds her own. After a standout career thus far, including a Top-10 national finish this spring, we're looking forward to a senior campaign that could be her best yet."

The criteria for selection as an All-American Scholar are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics with a required minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50. Tangkamolprasert, pursuing a degree in Economics with a minor in Business Institutions, is the eighth student-athlete in Wildcats program history to earn the honor multiple times during a career.

Tangkamolprasert established a new program record for scoring average this season, firing a 73.66 over 12 events and 35 rounds. She shared the team lead with five Top-10 finishes during the campaign, including a 10th place result at the 2015 NCAA Golf Championships in May. The junior earned First Team All-Big Ten honors for the first time in her career in 2014-15, and was recognized as an Academic All-Big Ten recipient for the second straight season.
