EVANSTON, Ill. -- Former Northwestern men's golf standout Mike Finster qualified for the 2015 U.S. Senior Open Championships on June 25-28 at Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento, California.

The U.S. Senior Open is a 72-hole competition. A field of 156 players will play 18 holes of stroke play on Thursday and Friday.

Sectional qualifying, played over 18 holes, was conducted at 34 sites around the country between May 11 and June 4. Finster earned a spot in the field after qualifying at the Vinoy Golf Club in his hometown Saint Petersburg, Florida, on May 28.

Finster, who graduated from Northwestern in 1987, played professionally following his collegiate career at NU and made an appearance on the Japanese Tour in 1991. He will tee off at 2:40 p.m. on Thursday, June 25.

Kirk Triplett, father of current Wildcat golfer Sam Triplett, will also compete at Del Paso. Triplett won three times on the PGA Tour between 2000 and 2006. On the Champions Tour, he has won in each of the last three seasons, including twice last year at the ACE Group Classic and SAS Championship. Triplett, who is exempt into the event due to his status as a Champions Tour Player, will tee off at 8:24 a.m.
