EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern is one of 16 finalists for the Best of Brand "Highlight Reel," the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced Thursday. The contest, conducted by the NWCA in collaboration with Elite Level Sports Marketing, features programs which strive to build their team's brand in a unique manner.
The 16 finalists are featured in a bracket challenge format and are paired based on seeding. Northwestern earned the No. 2 seed for its video that played before every dual at Welsh-Ryan Arena during the 2014-15 season.
"Highlight Reel" finalists were selected on each video's quality, music selection, graphics and overall impact.
The programs announced as finalists, in order of seed, are the following: North Carolina State, Northwestern, Minnesota, Buffalo, Hofstra, Purdue, Johnson & Wales, Princeton, Morningside, WPI, Michigan, North Dakota State, George Mason, Wisconsin, Alma and Oklahoma.
A complete Best of Brand bracket can be seen on the NWCA page.
The criteria for determining the award winner features two key elements. A panel of judges will assess annual performance, while fans will be able to vote online.
Teams will battle head-to-head each day, starting Monday, June 15th, to advance to the next round of competition. Each round of voting will be open for one day from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. CT. The competition will run from June 15th through June 18th with a new round occurring each day.
