EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern has earned one of 32 at-large bids into the 2015 NCAA Tournament and will travel the short road to South Bend, Indiana, for the South Bend Regional hosted by No. 16 overall seed Notre Dame.

Northwestern will open against SEC foe Kentucky (29-24) on Friday, May 15, at 1 p.m. CT/2 p.m. ET. Notre Dame plays Ball State, winners of the MAC Tournament, in the other opening matchup at 4 p.m. CT/5 p.m. ET. NU has played both Notre Dame and Ball State this season, run-ruling the Cardinals 13-0 (5) and falling to the Irish, 3-2, in a game in South Bend.

The winner of the South Bend Regional will face the winner of the Gainesville Regional hosted by No. 1 overall seed and defending national champion Florida. The last time NU played in the South Bend Regional was in 2005 when the Wildcats won and advanced to the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament.

Northwestern is making its 15th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament and its 10th in the 14-year Drohan era. NU has advanced to the NCAA Regional final six times in the last 10 years, won its Region four times and made two trips to the Women's College World Series under the Drohans, who have a 29-21 career record in NCAA play.

Northwestern concluded the 2015 season with a 28-21 record against the nation's second-toughest nonconference strength of schedule. In fact, fully 84 percent of the Wildcats games this year came against teams in the final top 100 of the RPI. NU also finished fourth in the Big Ten and advanced to the semifinals of the B1G Tournament last week.

Northwestern's complete game notes package and NCAA Tournament preview will be released later this week.
