EVANSTON, Ill. -- For the second-straight week and the third time in the B1G season, Northwestern has the Big Ten's Player of the Week after junior Andrea Filler (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger) earned the nod following a powerful five-game stretch.

Filler hit .643, slugged 1.214 and drove in 12 runs in the Wildcats' five conference games last week. First, in a Wednesday doubleheader against Illinois, she finished 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and four runs driven in while also walking three times. She continued to pound the ball against Ohio State, including notching a career-best five RBIs with a three-run home run and her NCAA-leading ninth sacrifice fly of the season during the second game of the series.

Filler now has 56 RBIs on the year, tying her with Adrienne Monka's 2012 campaign for fourth in NU single-season history. She ranks 14th in the country in RBIs per game with 1.30.

Filler's honor follows freshman Sabrina Rabin (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) being named the Big Ten Player and Freshman of the Week last Monday. Filler's is the sixth weekly Big Ten honor for NU this year.

Northwestern closes its home schedule at 4 p.m. CT Wednesday, April 29, against DePaul at Sharon J. Drysdale Field.
