EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's Selena Lasota was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the third time this sesaon on Monday, the league office announced.
Lasota has again and again displayed the skills that have made her the most dynamic scorer in the conference and last week was no exception. She opened the week with a career-best performance at Michigan, leading the Wildcats to their first-ever Big Ten win.
The Campbell River, B.C., native matched her season bests of six goals and two assists in the 17-8 win over the Wolverines, recording her first-career eight-point game. She followed up that performance with a pair of goals in the 'Cats' 9-8 overtime victory on Sunday against No. 11 Penn.
Through 11 games, Lasota leads the Big Ten with 42 goals and 3.82 goals per game. She is fifth nationally in total goals and third in goals per game, while also ranking 13th in the country with 4.27 points per game. She has scored at least two goals in every game this season.
The Wildcats will hit the road for a pair of games this weekend at Rutgers and No. 9 Stony Brook. Friday's game against the Scarlet Knights is scheduled for 6 p.m., while the Sunday affair against the Seawolves is slated for 11 a.m.
