2015 Bryan National Collegiate Bryan Park Champions Course Greensboro, N.C. NU's Place: 9th/18 teams Golfstat.com Scoring Second Round Results | ![]() |
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Northwestern remains in the middle of a tightly packed field at the Bryan National Collegiate co-hosted by UNC Greensboro and Wake Forest following Saturday's second round at the Bryan Park Champions Course.
The ninth-ranked Wildcats shot a 19-over 307 Saturday to remain ninth among the 18-team field at 36-over 612 (305-307), one stroke in front of 10th place and 19th ranked Florida and three shots in front of an 11th-place tie between No. 40 N.C. State and No. 41 Louisville.
NU is four strokes behind eighth-place No. 30 Notre Dame and six shots in back of a three-way tie for fifth among No. 18 Vanderbilt, No. 35 Florida State and Kentucky. No. 12 Virginia and No. 13 Wake Forest are tied for the team lead at 23-over par, showcasing just how difficult the Bryan Park Champions Course is playing.
Kacie Komoto (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou) had a phenomenal bounce back from a rough first round Friday to lead Northwestern in Saturday's second round with a 1-over 73 -- a nine-shot improvement. Komoto had two bogeys and seven pars on the front nine, then birdied both of the back nine par-5s around her lone back-side bogey to come home in 1-under 35. Komoto jumped up 36 spots in the individual standings to 39th place at 11-over 155 (82-73).
Senior Hana Lee (Seoul, South Korea/Wilson (Calif.)) found herself 3-over quickly following a bogey-double bogey combo at Nos. 2 and 3. She then recorded five-straight pars, but still was 6-over through 13. Lee played the rest of the way in 1-under with a birdie at the 376-yard par-4 17th to finish at 5-over 77 for the day and 7-over 151 (74-77) for the tournament, good for 17th place.
Suchaya Tangkamolprasert (Bangkok, Thailand/Bromsgrove Christian School) had a strong front nine with the only blemish being a bogey at the 390-yard par-4 fifth hole. After turning in 1-over 37, though, the junior had a 5-over 41 on the back nine to end up at 6-over 78 for the second round. Tangkamolprasert is in 28th place at 9-over 153 (75-78).
Freshman Sarah Cho (San Diego, Calif./Torrey Pines) signed for a 7-over 79, though much of the damage came on one hole when she carded a triple-bogey 8 on the par-5 third. She followed that with two straight bogeys to stand 5-over through five holes, but fought very well to remain on that number after the 13th. Two more bogeys after that resulted in her final tally for the day, placing her 47th in the field at 12-over 156 (77-79).
Freshman Hannah Kim (Chula Vista, Calif./Otay Ranch) also ended up at 7-over 79 Saturday, making 11 pars and seven bogeys in her round. Kim now is 54th overall at 14-over 158 (79-79).
The third and final round of the Bryan National is tomorrow, Sunday, April 5.
