IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Junior Jordan Wilimovsky (Malibu, Calif./Malibu) earned the second All-America honor of his career Thursday during the opening day of the 2015 NCAA Championships at Iowa's Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.
Wilimovsky placed 15th overall in the 500 freestyle, picking up an honorable mention All-America accolade with his finish in the event's `B' final.
Wilimovsky entered the event as the No. 11 overall seed after finishing third at the Big Ten Championships with a career-best and school-record time of 4:14.70. He made it through to Thursday's NCAA Championships `B' final courtesy of a 4:15.88 during the preliminary heats that placed him 14th among the field with a time comparable to his morning effort at the conference meet.
He was not quite able to match his pace Thursday evening, touching in a time of 4:17.20, but he still added a second-career All-America award to go along with his fourth-place finish in the 1,650 free from 2014.
That 1,650 free event now is the focus for Wilimovsky, who is the No. 1 seed in the 2015 edition on Saturday. Wilimovsky will have Friday off to prepare before returning to competition.
