EVANSTON, Ill. -- The sevent-ranked Northwestern Lacrosse program will open play at Lakeside Field when it hosts the first-ever meeting against Colorado on Saturday.

Opening draw is scheduled for noon and the game will be broadcast on BTN Plus on BTN2GO. The 'Cats enter the contest 3-2 following a 12-11 loss to No. 2 UNC last week, while the Buffs are 2-1 after a 19-0 victory over Presbyterian earlier this week. CU is in just its second season of competition under former Northwestern star Ann Elliott.

Welcome, Ms. Wessels
Freshman Corinne Wessels missed the first four games of the season to injury only to make the most of her collegiate debut at No. 2 North Carolina last Saturday. Wessels, ranked as the No. 17 incoming freshman by Lacrosse Magazine, recorded four points (2 goals/2 assists) en route to being named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week. The Manassas, Va., native adds a dynamic offensive threat to the Wildcats as she broke records in multiple categories tracked by the National Federation of State High School Associations, ranking first all-time in career assists (327), assists in a season (142), career points (765) and points in a season (256). She owns 11 of the top 12 single-game assists totals in NFSHSA history, with a national record of 13 and is third in NFSHSA history with 438 career goals.

In the Cage
Senior Bridget Bianco played her best game of the young 2015 season at UNC last week, making a season-high 13 saves. The senior made a save on each of the Tar Heels' four free-position opportunities and recorded a pair of ground balls in the contest. It marked the second time this season the Moorestown, N.J., native notched a double-digit save total. Bianco was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List last week and was one of 25 final nominees for the award last season.

Among the Nation's Leaders
The leader of the Wildcats' offensive attack through the first five games of the season has undoubtedly been freshman midfielder Selena Lasota. She has scored at least two goals in each game this season and as of March 4 ranked eighth in the country with 19 tallies, most of among freshmen. Ranked as the No. 2 incoming freshman by Lacrosse Magazine, Lasota burst on the scene with six points (four goals and two assists) in collegiate debut at USC on Feb. 7 to earn Inside Lacrosse National Rookie of the Week and Big Ten Freshman of the Week Honors. She continued her torrid play with five goals against No. 8 Duke on Feb. 19 and six goals at Marquette Feb. 21 to earn yet another National Rookie of the Week honor, Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor and Big Ten Offensive Player of the week plaudit.

No Sophomore Slump
After starting every game as a freshman last season, Sheila Nesselbush has taken her game to a new level and showcased her offensive ability. Nesselbush scored just three goals in her freshman campaign, but surpassed that total when she recorded her first career hat trick at UNC last Saturday. It marked her second multi-goal game of the season as she also tallied a pair of goals in a 6-5 win over No. 6 Virginia on Feb. 14.

Craig is Cruisin'
After being held without a shot in her first game of the season and return from an injury that forced her to miss the final eight games of 2014, junior Kaleigh Craig has found her groove as one of the Wildcats' biggest offensive threats. Craig has scored in each of the last four games, tallying a pair of goals versus Virginia and North Carolina and matching her career high with four goals against Duke.
