SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Several personal records fell on Saturday at the Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame, including Andrea Ostenso posting the best 3,000m time of any Wildcats runner this season.

Five 'Cats were in the field for the 3,000m in South Bend, including Ostenso's first shot at the distance this year. Already in possession of the fastest 5,000m time on the roster this spring, the sophomore from Ladysmith, Wis., finished the 3K in 9:29.19, just shy of the school record (9:28.56) set by Alena Palmquist in 1986.

Classmate Jena Pianin finished just behind her teammate in 9:35.67 and Isabel Seidel (9:54.38) cut more than 14-seconds off her personal best, while Ellen Schmitz (10:27.47), Allison Jacobsen (10:27.56) and Megan O'Brien (10:27.92) also ran strong races for Northwestern.

As the only Wildcat entered into the One Mile field, Rachel Weathered posted a personal record of 4:56.42, shaving almost two full seconds off her performance at the Meyo Invitational on Feb. 7.

In addition to the Northwestern runners in South Bend, a handful of Wildcats also competed at the Margaret Bradley Invitational at the University of Chicago. Elena Barham won the One Mile event, while Renee Wellman (17:53.52) and Mallory Abel finished 1-2 in the 5,000m race. All four Wildcats that competed in the 3,000m event finished with Top-10 times, led by Elena Barham (10:19.38) in second-place. Brooke Pigneri, Haley Albers and Victoria Bianco all ran strong races on the south side.
