EVANSTON, Ill. -- Freshman Hannah Kim (Chula Vista, Calif./Otay Ranch) has won her second Big Ten Golfer of the Week award and the fourth for Northwestern this season after her runner-up performance at the Lady Puerto Rico earlier this week.
Kim climbed from 10th place entering Tuesday's final round at the Rio Mar River Course in Rio Mar, P.R., to finish solo second via a 4-under 68. On the back nine, she made six birdies in a seven-hole stretch for a 5-under 31 on the side that is easily one of the best nines ever played in NU's history.
Kim finished the tournament at 2-under 214 after opening an even-par 72 in the first round and a 74 in the second. Her solo second performance was the best of her career and her third top-10 this season.
Northwestern has played in five events this year and won Big Ten Golfer of the Week after four of them. Kim has won twice while Suchaya Tangkamolprasert (Bangkok, Thailand/Bromsgrove International School) and Kaitlin Park (Tustin, Calif./Beckman) have each won once.
