RIO MAR, P.R. -- Northwestern remains in fifth place among the 15-team field following Monday's second round at the Lady Puerto Rico hosted by Purdue at the Rio Mar River Course.

NU fired an 11-over 299 in the second round to find itself in a fifth-place tie alongside TCU at 19-over 595 (296-299). Those teams are four shots behind fourth-place Kent State, seven shots behind third-place LSU, eight shots in back of second-place Iowa State and 10 strokes behind the leaders, fourth-ranked Arkansas.

The Wildcats began Monday's shotgun on holes 5-8 and once again scored well through the back nine to find themselves in second place in the team standings late in the round. Once again, however, the difficult first and second holes caused Northwestern headaches to the tune of two bogeys, two double bogeys and one triple bogey to keep NU in fifth entering Tuesday's final round.

Freshman Hannah Kim (Chula Vista, Calif./Otay Ranch) started the day in eighth place individually and quickly found trouble with a double bogey on her fourth hole, the par-5 eighth. She made up for it with birdies on both back nine par-5s, but back-to-back bogeys at Nos. 17 and 18 left her at 2-over par, which is where she would finish. Kim remains in the top-10 at 2-over 146 (72-74).

Senior Hana Lee (Hacienda Heights, Calif./Wilson) birdied her first hole Monday before three-straight bogeys from Nos. 9 to 11 put her 2-over for the day. She suffered a double bogey on the difficult first hole, as well, though did one stroke back with a birdie at No. 2 to turn in a 3-over 75. Lee is in 15th position among the field at 4-over 148 (73-75).

Junior Suchaya Tangkamolprasert (Bangkok, Thailand/Bromsgrove Christian School) rode the momentum of her 1-under par back nine Sunday to a good start Monday morning. She carded a birdie at No. 11 -- her fifth hole of the day -- and although she gave a stroke back at No. 12, she holed out for an eagle 2 at the par-4 13th to get to 2-under on the day.

From there, Tangkamolprasert made five bogeys on the way home to end up at 3-over 75 for the round and 8-over 152 (77-75) for the tournament, good for 35th position.

Freshman Sarah Cho (San Diego, Calif./Torrey Pines) bounced back nicely from a rough opening round Sunday to card a six-stroke improvement. She birdied her first hole, bogeyed her second and then made par on the next 13 holes in a row. Her round got away from her a bit in the end, concluding with three-straight bogeys for a 3-over 75. Cho is in 53rd place at 12-over 156 (81-75).

Junior Kaitlin Park (Tustin, Calif./Beckman) bogeyed her first hole Monday, the par-4 sixth, before getting low on the back nine. She played that side in 3-under par with a trio of birdies to get to 2-under with five holes remaining, but disaster struck after she turned for home. A double bogey at No. 1 and a triple bogey at No. 2 led to a second-round tally of 4-over 76 to place her 28th overall at 6-over 150 (74-76) following 36 holes of play.

Playing as an individual, sophomore Kacie Komoto (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou) fired a her second-straight 2-over 74 to place her 15th overall in the field in Puerto Rico with a 4-over 148 (74-74).

The third and final round of the Lady Puerto Rico is tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 17.
