2015 Grand Valley State University Big Meet - RESULTS
ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Personal records came crashing down throughout Friday evening for Northwestern cross-country at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet, with nine different Wildcats posting career-bests at the Kelly Family Sports Center.
Northwestern's night started in the 5,000m event where junior Allison Jacobsen knocked 23-seconds off her personal record, finishing in 17:36.89. She was followed in the event by Megan O'Brien (17:48.79), Ellen Schmitz (18:03.42) and Mallory Abel (18:04.46).
Wildcats led the pack in the One-Mile event, with sophomore duo Jena Pianin (4:49.81) and Andrea Ostenso (4:52.18) finishing in second and third, respectively, with personal records and Isabel Seidel also posting a career-best at 5:02.14. As if the mile wasn't enough, Pianin also raced the 800m event, finishing in 2:15.08.
Wrapping up the night in the greater Grand Rapids area, a pair of 'Cats established personal records in the 3,000m race. Rachel Weathered, a junior from Naperville, Ill., shaved a half-minute off her career-best with a 9:52.12 performance, while classmate Renee Wellman turned in a personal-best 10:16.25.
Northwestern will race next on Saturday, Feb. 21, when a group of Wildcats will compete at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, and another will hit the track at the Margaret Bradley Invitational on the campus of the University of Chicago.
