EVANSTON, Ill. -- For the seventh-straight season, Big Ten spring golf begins at the B1G Match Play Championship, this year held Sunday-Monday, Feb. 15-16, at Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Fla.
Northwestern has had serious ownage of this event over the previous six stagings, compiling an 18-3 all-time record with three-straight tournament championships from 2010-12. Last season NU won its opening quarterfinal match against Indiana before falling in the semifinals en route to a third-place result.
The current Big Ten Match Play format sees coaches submit a roster of six players prior to the event and choose a five-player lineup for each match from that group. Tournament team and individual seeds are set by final fall Golfstat.com rankings. The complete bracket is available by downloading the .pdf at the top of this page. Live scoring will be provided by the America Junior Golf Association (AJGA).
By virtue of its current No. 59 ranking by Golfstat, Northwestern is the No. 5 seed this year and again will face No. 12 seed Indiana in the opening round. That match will start at 7:50 a.m. CT Sunday on the Conservatory Course, billed as Florida's longest at 7,777 yards. The Championship Bracket will be competed on Tom Watson's Conservatory layout during the two-day tournament while the Consolation Bracket will be hosted by the Jack Nicklaus-designed Ocean Course.
BTN will broadcast the 2015 Big Ten Match Play Championship via tape delay Sunday, March 15, at 12:30 p.m. CT.
Northwestern's roster will be led by freshman Dylan Wu (Medford, Ore./St. Mary's School), who is coming off a victory against a loaded field at the Wildcats' final tournament of the fall, the Gifford Collegiate hosted by UCLA.
