EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women's tennis team heads to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for a final exhibition event before the 2015 regular season gets underway.
The Mal Moore Invitational, hosted by the University of Alabama, begins on Friday and runs through Sunday afternoon. Matches will be played indoors at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility.
17th-ranked Northwestern is one of four teams competing in Tuscaloosa this weekend. No. 8 Alabama, No. 18 Georgia Tech and No. 30 Florida State join the Wildcats in an early 2015 test.
The tournament will be held as a round robin with each school playing against one other on each day of the event. Northwestern opens things up on Friday against Georgia Tech. The `Cats then match up with the Crimson Tide on Saturday and finish the tournament with Florida State on Sunday.
Action begins at 10 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday. Play starts at 9 a.m. on Sunday. Doubles will kick-off play on all three days.
Draws will be posted at the end of each day and updated results can be found throughout the weekend at www.rolltide.com.
Northwestern opens the 2015 season at home as a regional host site for the annual ITA Kick-Off Weekend. No. 32 Arizona State, No. 21 Rice and No. 29 Kentucky come to Evanston on Saturday, Jan. 24 with a trip to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships on the line.
