EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern faces Georgia Tech as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Wednesday as the teams square off at Welsh-Ryan Arena at 8:15 p.m.
Fans attending the contest are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to support the annual canned food drive. Items to be donated can be dropped off in the lobby of Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Northwestern is 6-9 all-time in the Challenge, including four straight wins from 2008-11. Two of the Wildcats' victories in the event have come against Georgia Tech and they are the lone two all-time meetings between the schools. NU won 91-71 Nov. 30, 2010 in Evanston and 76-60 Nov. 29, 2011 in Atlanta.
Northwestern dropped its first game of the season last Thursday, falling 61-42 to Northern Iowa in the championship game of the Cancun Challenge. Freshman Bryant McIntosh led the Wildcats with 13 points, including scoring the team's first 10 points of the contest.
This is the third time that redshirt senior guard JerShon Cobb is on the Wildcats' roster when they face Georgia Tech. The native of Decatur, Ga.--which is in suburban Atlanta--scored 10 points vs. the Yellow Jackets as a true freshman in 2010 but sat out the 2011 meeting.
The Big Ten has won three of the last five ACC/Big Ten Challenges after the ACC won the first 10.
