EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern University Department of Athletics & Recreation and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C.) will be collecting items for the annual Canned Food Drive on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Welsh-Ryan Arena when the Wildcats men's basketball team takes on ACC foe Georgia Tech. Fans who donate can enter a raffle to win a basketball signed by head coach Chris Collins or a gift card to Wildfire Restaurant.
At the end of each fall academic quarter all 19 Wildcats varsity teams, athletic department staff, coaches and fans team up to collect non-perishable food items that are delivered to Family Focus of Evanston just in time for the holiday season.
The goal for the 2014 Canned Food Drive is to secure 5,000 items for donation. During the 2013 Drive over 3,300 non-perishable items were donated to Family Focus of Evanston, a record total.
Tickets for Wednesday's B1G/ACC Challenge matchup between the Wildcats and Yellow Jackets are available online at NUSports.com or by calling 888-GO-PURPLE.
