Annika Winsnes leads Northwestern in the sprint freestyle events early in 2014-15
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Following a week off, Northwestern's 3-0 men's and women's programs travel to Lexington, Ky., this weekend for a two-day quad dual meet hosted by Kentucky and featuring Missouri and Southern Illinois.
Action begins at 5 p.m. CT/6 p.m. ET Friday, Nov. 7, with half of the total schedule of events. Teams then reconvene for an early 8 a.m. CT/9 a.m. ET start Saturday, Nov. 8 to complete the competition. Live results will be available at UKathletics.com.
Teams will compete in an extended meet program with every event on the docket except the 1,650 free and the 800 free relay.
The Northwestern men are freshly ranked at No. 21 in the initial College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll of the year and figure to face a stiff test in both the hosts and Missouri, which is receiving votes in the ranking. The Wildcats knocked off MAC power Eastern Michigan in their season-opener before returning home two weeks ago to defeat Oakland and UIC.
The Northwestern women also will face stiff competition in the form of their two SEC opponents; Missouri is the top ranked "also receiving votes" squad in the latest CSCAA poll released today. The Wildcats topped Big Ten rival Illinois in their season-opener before sweeping their own double dual against Oakland and UIC.
This meet is the first of three in three weeks for the Northwestern programs, culminating in the fall-season-ending, three-day TYR Invitational Nov. 21-23 at the Norris Aquatics Center.
