EVANSTON, Ill. -- Fresh off the first victory of his college career Wednesday at the Gifford Collegiate, freshman Dylan Wu (Medford, Ore./St. Mary's School) has been named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week.

Wu carded 16 birdies and an eagle over three rounds at CordeValle in San Martin, Calif., to post a 9-under 204 and win the Gifford over a field packed with talent. Seven of the 10 teams at the tournament are ranked in the current top-40 of the Golfstat.com rankings and 10 of the top-62 individuals in the country were among the field.

Wu's 204 is tied for the fourth-lowest 54-hole score in Northwestern program history. He made a back nine charge in the final round with five birdies to erase a four-stroke deficit and win the tournament by a single shot, sinking a four-foot birdie putt on the final green for the victory.

Wu concluded Northwestern's four-event fall schedule with a team-best 71.27 stroke average and four finishes inside the top-30, including two top-10s. Six of his 11 rounds have been at par or better.

Wu joins junior Josh Jamieson (St. Andrews, Scotland/High School of Dundee) as Big Ten Golfer of the Week award recipients so far in 2014-15.
