EVANSTON, Ill. -- After an early-season warm-up at Wisconsin, Northwestern is set for an important first 6K opportunity of the season this Saturday (Sept. 20) at the Big Ten Preview Meet hosted by Iowa. The race allows the full Wildcats roster to become well-acquainted with the Ashton Cross Country Course, which will serve as the site of the 2014 Big Ten Championships later this fall.

Saturday marks Northwestern's first competition in Iowa City since the 2005 NCAA Midwest Regional Championships, two seasons prior to head coach April Likhite's return to the Wildcats in 2007.

The women's race will lead off the action in Iowa City with an early 8 a.m. CT start time, followed by the men's 8K event at 8:45 a.m. Northwestern is one of five women's squads participating in the meet, along with Iowa, Michigan (currently ranked No. 1 in the country), Wisconsin and non-Big Ten representative Kansas State.

Northwestern enters the weekend with a No. 7 ranking in the USTFCCCA Midwest Region, three spots ahead of this week's host, Iowa.

Last time out, Northwestern was led in a 4K event by a pair of sophomores, Jena Pianin and Andrea Ostenso, while junior Camille Blackman and freshmen Isabel Seidel and Kinsey Harmon rounded out NU's top five finishers.
