ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- With play suspended by severe weather late in the second round of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational hosted by New Mexico, NU junior Suchaya Tangkamolprasert (Bangkok, Thailand/Bromsgrove International School) is tied for the individual lead and Northwestern sits atop the team standings.

The Wildcats carded an opening round 2-under 290, and currently are 3-under par with the entirety of the squad ending up just a couple of holes short of finishing out the second round. As it currently stands, NU is three strokes ahead of second place UNLV. Play will resume at 7:45 a.m. local time/8:45 a.m. CT tomorrow morning before the final round immediately follows.

UNLV got off to a very hot start in the morning round, opening a sizeable lead early before Northwestern tracked the Rebels down to have just a one stroke deficit entering Monday's second loop. Again, UNLV opened a few shot cushion before NU came flying back to tie and overtake the Rebs early on the back nine.

The UNM Championship Course is playing to a par-73, 6,192-yard layout for this year's event; each nine opens and closes with a par five with an additional par-5 at No. 14 for good measure.

Tangkamolprasert began the day's shotgun on the 17th hole, making her way quickly to the front nine where she carded a trio of birdies. She negated two late bogeys at Nos. 10 and 12 with back-to-back birdies at Nos. 13 and 14 for an opening 3-under 70.

The second round was even better for Tangkamolprasert, who thus far is bogey-free with three birdies and three holes left to play. Her current 6-under par status ties her atop the leaderboard with UNLV's Dana Finkelstein.

Four shots behind her teammate in a tie for third place is freshman Hannah Kim (Chula Vista, Calif./Otay Ranch), who made a strong start to her collegiate career Monday. She began with a round of 1-over 74 that saw her turn in 2-under 34 before a trio of back nine bogeys. In the second round, Kim again turned with a 34 and currently is 3-under par on the round with three holes to play, leaving her at 2-under overall for the event.

Junior Kaitlin Park (Tustin, Calif./Beckman) opened with a 3-over 76 in the morning but has bounced back nicely in the afternoon round. She has made birdie on all four of the par-5s she has played thus far to negate four bogeys, and she still has one more par-5 to go when play resumes in the morning. Park currently is 3-over for the tournament in 20th position.

One shot behind Park is sophomore Kacie Komoto (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou) at 4-over par through 30 holes. Komoto made four birdies against three bogeys and a double bogey in her opening round to card a 1-over 74. On the afternoon, Komoto has made nine pars and three bogeys officially with six scores yet to be reported to complete the round. With the scoreboard frozen at this moment in time overnight, Komoto is in 26th place.

Senior Hana Lee (Hacienda Heights, Calif./Wilson) had a tale of two rounds on Monday. In the morning, she was lights out, making three birdies en route to a 1-under 72 that helped the Wildcats surge up the team leaderboard. The second round has been much more wild, with Lee currently 7-over par through 15 holes to stand 39th at the moment at 6-over par.

Competing as an individual, freshman Sarah Cho (San Diego, Calif./Torrey Pines) was unable to find any birdies in an opening 7-over 80, but she started the second round with two in her first three holes. Seven bogeys have followed, though, to leave her at 12-over par at sundown Monday.
