WOODSTOCK, Ontario -- Northwestern rising sophomore Kacie Komoto finished inside the top 20 at the prestigious Canadian Women's Amateur Championship. The 72-hole tournament ran from Tuesday, July 22-Friday, July 25 and Komoto tied for 18th with a score of 4-over 288 (72-71-75-70).
Played at the par-71, 6,207-yard Craigowan Oxford Golf & Country Club, Komoto had two rounds of par or better, finishing the tournament with her best round on Friday, carding a 1-under 70. She had three birdies on Friday, all on the front nine, to finish the event on a high note.
The Honolulu, Hawaii native competed against some of the top amateur women's golfers in the world as players spanned from Canada, Mexico, Argentina, China, Australia, Japan, Colombia, England and the United States. Komoto made the cut following the first two rounds of competition and placed 18th out of 78 competitors that advanced.

Komoto has had a successful summer as she also recently won the Hawaii State Match Play Championship for the second consecutive year.
As a freshman during the 2013-14 season, Komoto played in all 12 events, helping the Wildcats finish third at the 2013 Big Ten Championships, record a top-eight finish at the NCAA West Regional and a second straight top-15 placement at the NCAA Championships. Komoto recorded a 74.97 scoring average in her first season, which ranks seventh in NU single-season history and first in program history amongst first-year players. She boasted two top-10 finishes and five top-20 placements throughout her first year with the program.
