2014 Big Ten Women's Basketball Matchups ![]()
EVANSTON, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference announced the single and double plays for the 2013-14 women's basketball season today. Northwestern, and the rest of the conference, will play a 16-game Big Ten schedule next season but meets six opponents just once during the regular season.
NU's single-play opponents for next year will be Illinois (home), Indiana (away), Iowa (away), Michigan (home), Michigan State (home) and Ohio State (away). The Wildcats will face Minnesota, Nebraska, Purdue, Wisconsin and Penn State twice during the regular season.
During the 2012-13 campaign, Northwestern's single-play opponents included Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin.
Ten players return to head coach Joe McKeown's squad for the 2013-14 season, including Big Ten Freshman of the Year Maggie Lyon and 2013 All-Big Ten honoree Karly Roser. Lyon, Roser and forward Lauren Douglas all return to the starting lineup next season.
The Wildcats also add a group of four talented freshmen including 6-foot-1 forward Nia Coffey (McDonalds & WBCA All-American), 5-foot-9 guard Christen Inman (WBCA Honorable Mention All-American), 5-foot-4 guard Ashley Deary and 6-foot-4 forward Allie Tuttle.
