EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern Athletics and the Big Ten Network announced Tuesday that the upcoming NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship quarterfinal contest between seven-time national champion Northwestern and No. 7 Penn State will air live on BTN. Opening draw at Lakeside Field in Evanston is set for 7 p.m. CT Saturday (May 18).
Calling the game for BTN will be veteran play-by-play announcer Mike Wolf alongside Ashley Gersuk, a Northwestern Lacrosse alum and the goalkeeper for the Wildcats' first NCAA championship season in 2005. This is the third Northwestern Lacrosse game this season that the Big Ten Network has broadcast live from Lakeside Field.
Tickets to the game are available (day-of-game only) at a cost of $8 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, youth and students, and $1 for infants. Once again, all Northwestern students will be admitted free upon presentation of a WildCard, courtesy of NU head coach Kelly Amonte Hiller.
As two of the three teams that shared the American Lacrosse Conference regular-season title, Northwestern and Penn State are set to square off for the third time this season. The Wildcats claimed the regular-season meeting in Evanston by an 11-3 count before edging the Nittany Lions in overtime, 9-8, in the semifinals of the ALC Tournament on May 3. Amonte Hiller has led the 'Cats to 16 consecutive wins against Penn State, which reached the quarterfinals this year thanks to early-round wins over Canisius (14-13) and Massachusetts (12-9).
