EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern played its lone exhibition match Saturday at Lakeside Field and kept it exciting until the closing seconds in its 1-1 tie against crosstown rival DePaul.

With 11 seconds to play, Blue Demon goalkeeper Alejandria Godinez was whistled for stalling, setting up a perfect free-kick opportunity for the Wildcats inside the 18-yard box. Sophomore Georgia Waddle lightly tapped the ball over to freshman Jennifer Korn who sent a rocket past Godinez, tying things up at 1-1.

The exhibition did not go into overtime, putting the final score at 1-1. DePaul scored its goal during the 19th minute of the first half.

First-year head coach Michael Moynihan had the opportunity to try a number of different lineups during Saturday's exhibition. In total, 24 Wildcats saw playing time, including seven newcomers. Sophomore Anna Cassell started in net for Northwestern, registering two saves and freshman Rachel Bergman played the second half, saving one shot.

The 2012 regular season officially begins on the road Sunday, Aug. 19 at Kansas. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT in Lawrence, Kan.
