EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern senior Eric Chun (Ansung City, South Korea/International Christian School) has been named a Division I PING All-America honorable mention selection, announced today (June 20) by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

Chun is the 12th All-American in Northwestern's program history and gives the Wildcats back-to-back season with an All-America award winner after current Asian Tour member David Lipsky earned the honor in 2011. In head coach Pat Goss' 16-year tenure, NU has won 11 All-America awards.

Chun compiled a 71.38 stroke average in his final season in Evanston, the fifth-best mark in school history behind three Luke Donald seasons and Jess Daley's All-America campaign of 1999-2000. Until encountering monstrous setups at the Scarlet Course and Pete Dye's treacherous tract at French Lick late in the year, Chun was challenging Luke Donald's school-record single-season stroke average of 70.45 set in his NCAA title year of 1998-99.

Chun finished in the top-10 in eight of Northwestern's 11 stroke play tournaments in 2011-12, winning twice and recording three more runner-up performances. At one point during the spring, he racked up three-consecutive Big Ten Golfer of the Week awards while winning the Rice Intercollegiate and the NYX Hoosier Invitational in addition to a T2 effort at the Barona Collegiate Cup.

The All-Big Ten first-team choice fired 20 of his 34 rounds this season at par or better, including 12 rounds in the 60s. During a three-tournament stretch in the spring, Chun posted seven-consecutive rounds in the 60s.
