EVANSTON, Ill. -- Freshman Morgan Jones was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for her game-high 25-point performance at Michigan, the Conference office announced today (Feb. 7). It is the fourth such honor for Jones this season.
The Altamonte Springs, Fla., native scored nearly a point per minute, and fell just two points short of matching her career-high in Thursday's game. Jones recorded five assists against just two turnovers while also adding seven rebounds and three steals in the Wildcats' only game last week.
Jones is second on the team in scoring, averaging 15.0 ppg and 6.0 rebounds per outing. She is the only Big Ten freshman to appear in the top-16 in both categories. Jones also comes in third in the League in three-pointers made (2.1 per game).
Jones and the Wildcats return to action this Thursday, Feb. 9 when they travel to East Lansing for a 5 p.m. CT matchup against Michigan State. The game will be carried live on the Big Ten Network.
