Hackney Named Capital One Academic-All District

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Junior Kendall Hackney was tabbed a Capital One Academic-All District selection for the second time in as many years, CoSIDA announced Thursday (2/9/12). Hackney, a communication studies major, will now be placed on the Academic All-American national ballot.

Hackney currently ranks ninth in the Big Ten in scoring, averaging 15.1 ppg, and is 12th in rebounding with 6.4 rpg. The Cincinnati, Ohio native became the most recent addition to NU's 1,000th-point club, reaching that plateau on Jan. 26 against Purdue. She now owns 1,030 points and is 11 rebounds away from 500 on her career.

Hackney has led NU in scoring on eight occasions and has reached double-digits in 18 games this season.

The Wildcats receive a bye this weekend before returning to action at Michigan State on Thurs., Feb. 9. Tip time is 5 p.m. CT and will be carried live on the Big Ten Network.
