EVANSTON -- Northwestern, Chicago's Big Ten volleyball team, is once again offering volleyball fans and players to take part in the Northwestern Volleyball Camps this upcoming summer. All participants will receive hands-on training from head coach Keylor Chan, his coaching staff and members of the Wildcat volleyball squad.
Three different types of camps are being offered again this summer, beginning with the middle school day camps. Designed for boys and girls in grades 4-8, three different clinics are being held. Session one will take place June 11-13, session two will be held July 9-11 with the third session held July 16-18.
Two different camps will be geared toward high school girls in grades 8-12. The skills camp will be held July 19-22, with both an overnight and commuter option available. Participants will get a chance to develop their skills and fundamentals, with the clinic highlighted by the Tournament of Champions on the final day.
The Wildcats are also offering a pair of high school positional clinics on July 5 and July 12, also for girls in grades 8-12. Whether participants are a setter, outside hitter, middle blocker or libero, they will get the chance to develop techniques and skills focused to their individual position.
Participants will have the opportunity to work and train with the Wildcats, who are coming off another exciting season in the ultra-competitive Big Ten Conference. Northwestern punctuated its regular season in November by defeating Nebraska, which was ranked No. 2 in the country at the time, in a thrilling match at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Sophomore Stephanie Holthus (Burlington, Ill./Central) collected All-Big Ten honors, while redshirt freshman Katie Dutchman (Del Mar Calif./Torrey Pines) was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team in 2011.
